Yum, Yum... kinda

So, we decided to try to incorporate some solids in Addy's diet starting a couple of days ago. I was thinking that the obvious choice to start with was some mashed bananas (no that isn't green banana carnage in the pic above.. hold your horses, I'll get to that). Upon diligently mashing the hell out of a banana with a fork and adding some warm water to thin it out a little, I had a nicely prepared candlelight dinner for Addy. And, what did I get in return? Well, You could say that the look on her face was telling me that she would much rather take bites out of the cat's fur. Ok, Ok, it was the first time we tried, maybe the second, no the third time would be tastier for her... I think the banana was a little TOO tasty for her. Tonight, Rachel and I made some nice sandwiches and took one of the components to take another shot at getting her to take in a couple of bites without the "bitter beer face"... and I would have to say it was much more of a success, with of all things... an avocado. Pretty wild, I don't remember eating an avocado until well into my 20's (I'm a late bloomer). Along with the couple of yummy spoonfuls she ate, there was 20 times the amount of excitement in mashing the cold slimey avocado everywhere, including Daddy's face. I also think she is learning the fun that can come with tossing things on the floor to make Daddy pick them up. And, my wife and I are learning even more so how much fun having a child can be. : )

Daw! I remember these days. Kiddos learning new things is the best. And, of course, she looks adorable.

So cute! We plan on having Avocado be betsy's first food! Hope she wants to eat it and not smoosh it in my face!

I thought it was strange that avocados were Elsa's first choice, too. Maybe we've cracked a baby secret?

Bad news for carrots...

Yep, Isobel dug on the avocado first time round as well, I think it may be a change in parent's thinking these days?? Did our parents even think to try us on avos back in the day?
