Sci-Fi Baby Weapon

Friday, May 6, 2011

As I was out for a nice Long walk with Addy yesterday, I was thinking about the experience of running into strangers with a baby strapped to your chest. Almost always there is some sort of interaction, whether is be a small smile or a stop, reveling in her beauty. I'm sure nothing seems too out of the ordinary there, but what I do want to discuss is the people that you see approaching, they look and see this cute bundle of joy, and just look away without any expression as if there was nothing there at all. After the interaction, I think in my head, "that person has no soul!" Which leads me to this thought (crazy, I know). If ever the world becomes inhabited by an evil alien life form that can take on the appearance of human beings, I know the ultimate secret weapon to expose these imposters... walk past them with a baby strapped to your chest, if they have no reaction, no sense of joy in seeing such a cute, beautiful thing... they are alien imposters, and they have no soul, report them to the authorities immediately!
HEY! yeah, you. Why not help a daddy out with a vote, I appreciate it.

Moby Wrappin'

Monday, April 18, 2011

So, I gave up all of my manly protests and used this new fangled Moby Wrap that my wife has been raving about. This mostly came about because we didn't have my carrier on us when a scenic walk by Grammy's house sprung upon us. While, putting this thing on resembled me trying to tie a necktie when I was 8, with my wife's assistance, I got it on safely and comfortably.
I must say, it felt pretty good and seemed to be great for Addy on one of the first days of the year that it was warm enough for her to go outside in only a diaper and a onesie. I don't think I would trade my daddy dude manly carrier in for it, but it was a lot better to use than I would admit to my wife. Not to mention, that I don't care what I have to use as long as Addy is strapped to MY chest for the walk (it's something I definitely am selfish about). The moby freed my hands up enough to help Addy try on Daddy's hat...
... and left room in one arm for Mommy and the other for Addy.
"pssst. hey... oh, why am I whispering? I didn't want my wife to hear this... the moby was pretty great"

How does this thing work?

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Something I am greatly looking forward to is carrying Adeline around in one of these bad boys. I haven’t actually carried a baby in one yet, but I have tried a couple on (as you may have already noticed). They do seem to be pretty easy to use. There are a few different kinds on the market, baby bjorn is probably the most popular. This petunia picklebottom seems to be a luxurious ride for the little one, and is oh so stylish. I'm starting to look at these as my wife would a handbag, but I only need one (well, maybe two). Do I need one to match this outfit? One to match this hat? I may be losing sight of the point of these things. But, I guess a Daddy needs some retail therapy too.
